Tribal belly dance costumes are sophisticated and rich. Turbans and complex headresses, exotic makeup and tribal jewellery, face ornamentation, layered skirts - I am sometimes happy I am not a tribal belly dancer, as I watch my tribal sisters becoming prepared for performance myself. I am one of people who laboured under the misapprehension that Tribal was designed to be a recreation of historical dance styles - and for that reason, I used to believe it was pretentious. I understood most of this but you have made it quite clear for beginner and I am sooo glad you made the point about the sources of tribal style being a 1960's american creation, its so irritating to need to keep correcting ppl on that!!
